Popular dance group, GGB dance crew has revealed the reason they have decided to focus more on social media.
The group which consists of three Nigerian women – Afije Roseline, Odiley Emmanuella, and Efiokwu Ifeoma – is one of the most successful dance groups in the Nigerian entertainment space.
In an exclusive chat with The Nation recently, the team disclosed why they preferred to stay off the set life and more on social media.
Emmanuella said, “It is a social world right now, everything is actually revolving around social media so why not? I mean it is less work. We like being on set but there’s this thing we say work smart instead of work hard. It is good to work hard but I think working smart is best as opposed to it. It is the same thing as we still do our thing but we don’t have to spend as much time as we spend on set. I mean if the pay is good to be on set, why not? That is a big difference”.
When asked if they do not partake in video shoots, Emmanuella responded saying, “It depends. I think once in a blue moon.”
As a team, over the years the crew has worked with an array of notable Nigerian celebrities such as 2face, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Psquare, Donjazzy, Banky W, Wande Coal, Patoranking, Teni, Dbanj, Falz, Kizz Daniel, and a host of others
Describing the challenges they face, Roseline said “Respect wise, I think it has reduced now but back then, being a dancer is not something to be proud of. You can’t tell your parents that I’m done with school or while I’m in school, I want to be a dancer. They will be like you are not serious and all those kinds of things. Again, when you start, the pay might not be so good and not everybody has the patience to just do this for the passion.”
