Mr Yunana Barde of the All Progressives Congress has won Saturday’s chairmanship election in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Returning Officer, Dr Sunday Ibrahim, declared Barde winner of the election at the Jema’a LGA Secretariat at about 11.30an on Sunday.
Ibrahim said that Barde scored 24, 255 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Peter Averik who scored 23, 215 votes.
“Mr Yunana Barde of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner of the election and returned elected,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the APC also won seven out of the 12 councillors seats in the LGA, leaving the PDP with the remaining five. (NAN)
